Summer is Here!

Summer is in full swing!  What do teachers do for the summer?  In a recent poll, we've found that many of us work in non-education jobs, some go on short local vacations and some make big trips.   TotallyTeacher.Com is searching for vacation discounts for teachers.  We have found a few.  The Star Teacher Program (a free teacher discount program) has some travel discounts and so does Educators Bed & Breakfast Travel Network (a charge appears to be associated with this program).   Florida Teachers and Arizona Teachers have great benefits on both hotels and theme parks.   Do you know of any others?   We'd love to list them.  Just let us know.

TotallyTeacher.Com is dedicated to finding savings for you.  Please tell us what other discounts do you wish for?  Tell us here and we'll pursue it.  If you know of any other exclusive teacher discounts, please let us know as well.  Our goal is to empower teacher budgets one by one with discounts that they desire.  We'll keep you posted of what we find out here and on TotallyTeacher.Com as well.   To be the first to know about new deals, join us on Facebook and Twitter.   Have a safe and happy Summer!

A Teacher's Discount Wish List...

Though many other teacher discount blogsites boast of more than 50 year-round teacher discounts, many of those mentioned are NOT year-round or are focussed to only one region.  Totally Teacher is dedicated to finding and negotiating a variety of savings that are year long.  Currently there are 21 nationally known businesses that provide teachers nationwide savings year-round.  (See http://www.totallyteacher.com/).  Sure, there are those that give discounts during a special Educator's Appreciation week, but not enough that give savings throughout the year.  Teachers are asking for discounts at restuarants like Chili's and coffee houses like Starbucks.  We are determined to get them.

We need your help!   Please show your support of teacher discounts by joining our blog, our Facebook Page or follow us on Twitter.  The more our following, the more leverage we have for deal negotiations.  Tell us, below, who you wish would give savings year-round and we'll pursue them on your behalf.   In 2011, on behalf of the 3,000,000 plus teachers that have dedicated their careers to America's future, Totally Teacher resolves to negotiate 25 new EXCLUSIVE TEACHER DISCOUNTS.  We've secured one so far (on gifts & favors).  There is power in numbers, ladies and gentlemen, please join us and post your wish below.

Sincerely,
Totally Teacher

Teacher Moonlight...Share Your Websites Here.

Teachers are masters at moonlighting.  The numbers are in from our recent poll which asked teachers if they had a second job.  YES was the overwhelming response.   Our new question is where do teachers moonlight?   We did an informal survey of our friends, some work at the public library, some as tutors at Kaplan Learning Center, some after-school jobs.   We'd like to hear from you, where do you work as a second job?  What do you do as a second job or during the summer?  Tell us here.

Teachers have second jobs because their passion to teach isn't rewarded with a salary that pays enough to meet their financial obligations.  Help us help you.  If you have a small business, please share your website here.   A teacher from NC just reached out to us with this site (http://www.facebook.com/FrogsandKisses), she sells scarfs to defer medical costs.  Please share your website here too.

Who Cares About Teachers, Anyway?

In today's education crisis, who cares about teachers?   The media is full of  news about exponential school budget cuts, teacher layoffs and classrooms with an uneven mix of behavior problems and a lack of resources.   Teachers are frequently blamed for the falling test scores.  Despite the effects of social ills such as broken families and poverty that loom in the classroom, teachers spend their day attempting to lay an academic foundation despite .  Teachers have the power to influence the path of tomorrow's potential leaders.  Though we hear of companies that invest in students, who cares about teachers?  How can we invest in the future without considering them?

Teachers can either assist in the building up or tearing down of an individual.   Considering they have this much impact, why aren't they paid more?  Economics and politics don't permit it.  The average teacher, in some states, doesn't even make enough money to buy a house.   Totally Teacher has found a way to help.   With teachers' pocketbooks in mind, Totally Teacher was founded.   Totally Teacher works diligently at finding and sharing "exclusive" teacher discounts on more than just teacher resources.   They consider teacher purchases as a whole - looking at both their professional and personal purchase trends.   Along with sharing already established discounts, Totally Teacher is dedicated to negotiating year-round discounts that aren't on the market.

Totally Teacher cares about teachers!  There is power in numbers.   Companies seek to make deals with those who have a great following!   Teachers, help Totally Teacher help you by telling us what discounts you wish for.   What year-round savings would you like?  Please share in the comments section below.  Please follow our blog and join Totally4Teachers community on Facebook.
